Success and Tears at Preview Screening – more on Radio 4

Coronet Cinema

Last night’s preview screening of ‘The Infidel’ and Q&A went brilliantly! Writer David Baddiel, Omid Djalili and Director Josh Appignanesi were there with Producer Uzma Hasan to welcome and host a massive crowd. The event organised by MUJU and Emerald, was intense ladden with cheers, laughter as well as deep and meaningful questions from an involved audience. Making a comedy about religion turns out to be a rewarding challenge. Listen to more on this on BBC Radio 4s piece starting at 1:20 pm.

Paranormal Activity

And the latest on ‘The Infidel’ is this Viral Promo, a spoof trailer of Paranormal Activity, cut with the Infidel Trailer. Really interesting to compare the spoof with the original trailer. This also opened my eyes to the amount of spoof trailers out there, and the hidden talent. Although I have to say that I would favour our spoof trailer, as it captures both the spooky horror tension of paranormal activity, while subtly mixing it with  the comedy, and retaining tension through the shock discovery of Omid being a Jew… when he thought he was Muslim…. gosh, am I over-analyzing this?

Anyway – for any Paranormal activity fan or Spoof fan or trailer fan or Omid fan, definetily entertaining and worth a watch.

Treasure Vault – great gem pics from David’s Skinner time

I found these old photos of David Baddiel with Frank Skinner. There’s a whole series of them. Is it just me, or do old photos actually make you feel old…

If, like me, you never thought there could possibly be any physical ressemblance between Omid Djalili and David Baddiel, well think again, as David’s just found us a candidate. And that candidate is no other then David’s brother! Who would have thought.

Follow David through his 5th episode of the Video blog, during the filming of ‘The Infidel’, featuring one of our biggest scenes, the rally scene at Somerset House.

Film preview, Q & A and networking

There’s still a few tickets left for this film screening of ‘The Infidel’ with a Q & A session on Thursday 25 February 2010. This screening will be a preview prior to the official release of the film in April and will therefore be an opportunity to watch the film before the rest of the public. You’ll also get a chance to ask production questions to Uzma Hasan, one of the producers and writer David Baddiel. Great event for film buffs and comedians starting out. The event is organized by the MUJU and Emerald network and will be a fund raising event (and therefore unfortunately not free – but for a good cause).

It’s at the Coronet Cinema in Notting Hill. Details here

A blast from the past

While surfing the net for useful David Baddiel related information (yes this is my job), I fell upon a nice little collection of David Baddiel videos, put together by NME. Getting sidetracked into watching stand-up on YouTube, I found this YouTube link from the BBC with David Baddiel, Jimmy Carr and David Mitchell amongst others. A great laugh. Nice start to the day.

London Conversation with David Baddiel and Tariq Ali

David Baddiel and writer Tariq Ali met at the London Southbank centre last week to discuss politics, religion and identity. David talked about The Infidel and his humorous take on religion, bringing lightness to a subject that is often too dark and heavy. Nice change.

Find out more about this event.
